The Semois Tobacco Trail (0 km)

Along the so-called Semois Tourist Tobacco Trail, you can discover the region’s agricultural, social and economic history. Enjoyhotel L’Eau Vive is one of the official stops on this beautiful 130-kilometre car route. The route takes you along country lanes through charming villages with stunning views. From the hotel, you can drive at your own pace past the route’s most beautiful spots and discover the history surrounding the culture of tobacco growing. The hotel offers a fully detailed route with additional information free of charge, so you can simply hop in and set off.

Vresse-sur-Semois (1 km)

Enjoyhotel L’Eau Vive is situated near the charming village of Vresse-sur-Semois. The village lies on the banks of the River Semois and is surrounded by forests and hills. Take a stroll along the riverbank and relax at one of the stunning viewpoints in the valley. The beautiful landscape and the view of the river have attracted painters for decades. Soak up the authentic, creative atmosphere that pervades the village and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Pont Saint-Lambert (1 km)

With its three irregular arches, this striking bridge in Vresse-sur-Semois has been a favourite subject for photographers and painters for many years. The narrow bridge was rebuilt in 1774 and is the subject of a local legend. The greenery surrounding the bridge invites you to take lovely walks and makes the Pont Saint-Lambert one of the most recognisable spots in Vresse.

Point de vue le Jambon de la semois (5 km)

This stunning viewpoint overlooking a bend in the Semois is truly worth seeing. There are seating areas, so you can sit back and enjoy the view at your leisure. The viewpoint is easily accessible by car, so you don’t need to go for a long walk to admire the view. If you do fancy a walk, the immediate surroundings are ideal for traversal by foot.

Reste du pont explosé pendant WW2 (8 km)

In Bohan, you will find the remains of the Pont Cassé, destroyed during the Second World War. This bridge was built in 1933, but was blown up by French troops in 1940 to cover their retreat. In 1941, the bridge was provisionally repaired using timber, but it was destroyed again by the Germans in 1944. This impressive sight, with its powerful history, is certainly worth a visit.

Panorama de Frahan (9 km)

From this impressive viewpoint, you can enjoy views over a bend in the Semois and the picturesque village of Frahan. The sight of the lush green countryside is breathtaking. You can extend your visit with a walk in the surrounding area. The village of Rochehaut also offers a range of places to eat and the chance to buy local produce, all within walking distance of Panorama de Frahan.

Jardin des Hiboux (16 km)

Jardin des Hiboux is a wildlife park home to over 80 birds of prey, including owls, eagles, falcons and vultures. Here, you can observe these magnificent birds at close quarters. You can explore the park at your leisure and round off your visit with the impressive flight demonstration, which is available in both French and Dutch.

Bouillon (25 km)

The town of Bouillon, one of the most beautiful towns in the Ardennes, is situated 25 km from Vresse-sur-Semois. Bouillon is best known for its medieval castle, which towers majestically above the town. You can also visit the castle. In Bouillon, you can enjoy a pleasant stroll and, for example, visit the local brewery or take a trip to the Ducal Museum. In fine weather, the many terraces invite you to take a well-deserved break. There are also plenty of excellent places to enjoy good food and drink.

Château-Fort de Bouillon (25 km)

Visit this impressive castle, which has watched over the town of Bouillon for over 1,000 years. The history of the town and the castle is inextricably linked to that of Godfrey of Bouillon, the famous knight who led the First Crusade to the Holy Land in 1096. From the high towers, you have a magnificent view of the River Semois and the lower parts of the town. Be sure to take the time to admire the spectacular birds of prey show.
