Gemündener Maar

Daun is a romantic town in the middle of the volcanic Eifel. The 3 volcanic lakes are also known as Maare. Daun is centrally located between Trier and Koblenz and only 30 km from the Moselle. The unique landscapes in this central mountain range are beautiful and very varied. Gemündener Maar with the town of Daun on the right. (1 km from the hotel) It is a landscape where treasures from the past are hidden. Fortresses, castles, monasteries and other beautiful buildings to admire and/or visit.

Treisburg

Burg Treis, also called Treisburg, is a castle ruin about 1 km south of the village centre of Treis. The perched ruins are located along a mountain path, approx. 70 m high and overlook the bed of the two streams Flaumbach and Dünnbach coming from the Hunsrück. It is easy to reach on foot or by car.

Wildburg

The Wildburg is located to the south behind the Treisburg. It was built in the 13th or 14th century, most likely to defend the southern flank of the Treisburg. The Wildburg is also easy to reach by car or on foot. Unfortunately, the castle can only be admired from the outside, as it is privately owned.

Reichsburg Cochem

Reichsburg Cochem is a hilltop castle situated on a mountain cone in the German town of Cochem on the Moselle. The very iconic imperial castle is located 100 metres above the city and served as a toll castle in the Middle Ages. According to the latest research, the castle was probably founded around 1100. Open: March-November – 9:00 – 17:00.

Burg Eltz

A little way off the Moselle, in a forest on a steep rock in Wierschem, lies Burcht Eltz. During 40-minute guided tours, the knight and princess era in the castle comes back to life. There are also beautiful hiking trails to follow around the castle. Open: 1/4/15 – 1/11/15 09:30 – 17:30.

Trier

Trier is the oldest city in Germany and has a very compact and atmospheric city centre. There are many important sights such as the Dom, the Imperial Baths, the Basilica, the Porta Nigra, and much more. Tourists have the option of exploring the city on their own or opting for a guided tour.

Brodenbach

The relaxing landscape of Brodenbach is a state-approved climatic health resort. The two side valleys carry clean healthy air. The village with its beautiful half-timbered houses often serves as a base for walks through the Ehrbachtal and Brodenbachtal.

SKoblenz

Koblenz is located at the mouth of the Moselle and Rhine. Old fortress walls, fortress towers, castles and patrician houses form the remains of an eventful past. The ‘Deutsches Eck’ is the point where the Moselle flows into the Rhine. Part of the Orange Route runs through Koblenz.

SBeilstein

To many tourists, the medieval townscape of Beilstein is the pinnacle of Moselle romanticism. It is also known as the ‘Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle’. This town has often served as the backdrop for German films.
