Dillenburger Schloss

Dillenburg, with the Dillenburger Schloss, which is a replica of the Burgt van de Grafen von Nassau from 1200 and part of the Orange Route.

Bonn, the Beethoven City

Bonn, the Beethoven City. From 1949 to 1990 it was the makeshift Bundes capital until 1999 when it became the government city of the republic. Worth a visit, especially at Christmas time, with its beautiful Christmas market.

Schloss Burresheim

Burresheim: despite all the wars, the castle from the 11th century has been well preserved and is definitely worth a visit for lovers of medieval history. The interesting history of witch hunts and lord farmers is central here. It is located a few kilometre from Burgt Eltz or Mayen, another medieval town in the Eifel.

Cochem

Cochem: located on the Moselle, a tourist spot with many terraces, it is an hour\'s drive from here. Reichsburg Cochem is a hilltop castle situated on a mountain cone in the German town of Cochem on the Moselle. The very iconic imperial castle is located 100 metres above the city and served as a toll castle in the Middle Ages. According to the latest research, the castle was probably founded around 1100. And was modernised in 1970. Open: March-November – 9:00 - 17:00.

Neuwied Zoo

Neuwied Zoo, the zoo in Neuwied is just a 30-minute drive away. A modestly sized zoo in a hilly wooded park. Not as spectacular as the Zoo in Portugal or in Belgium, but you could definitely spend a few hours there to spot animals.

Höhr Grenzhausen

Höhr Grenzhausen: the centre of the Westerwälder potteries, with its several small museums and shops for typical German ceramics. In the ceramic museum in Höhr-Grenzhausen you will find almost everything related to clay and ceramics in a 2500 m² space: from clay mining - past and present.

Hiking routes

All around the hotel we have marked out 5 routes where you can walk all day long. We offer these to you in digital QR or on paper. Of course, there are several routes for the hiking pro.

Linz am Rhein

On the Rheintor, you can see the high water marks that have hit the town over the centuries. Enjoy some car-free shopping, or a boat trip on the Rhine, sailing to Bonn and back again. Across the Rhine is a car-free cycling path that leads to Bonn.

Köningswinter

A visit to the old spa town with its Drachenfelsbahn. The Drachenfels is a 321-metre-high dead volcano on the banks of the Rhine, one of the seven peaks of the Siebengebirge. At the top of the Drachenfels are the ruins of a castle of the same name. But halfway up is the ‘new’ castle.

Westerwälder Seen

The weiher is located on the so-called 7-weiher road. A 36 km long ring road, where you will find a sunbathing area and an 18-hole golf course.

Cologne

Is definitely worth a visit. With its large extensive markets and car-free shopping streets, and of course the beautiful, immense Cathedral.

Limburg an der Lahn

With its beautiful church, located at the highest point of the town, many \'romantic\' streets with beautiful half-timbered houses in the Altstadt are worth a visit.

Bad Ems

The Kreisstadt of the Rhein-Lahn, with recognised Heilbad and beautiful Kurzaal, as well as some buildings from the Art Deco period. For the golfers, a beautiful forest course not far from the city.

Braunfels

Part of the Orange Route, the castle is still inhabited by the family, who open it to the public until 18.00. We think it is a surprising gem and well worth a visit despite the travel time.
